do you work with any accounting software?

At the moment, we only support accounts in Quickbooks Online. If you don't already have accounting software set up, we can help you create your account in QBO from scratch. We can also help with a migration if you'd like to switch to QBO.

I also sell physical products. Do you handle inventory?

Yes, we support inventory management. This is considered a higher level of support and is only available on the Gryffindor package tier.

Inventory can be managed directly in QBO, so if you don't already have an inventory system, we can set it up.

What exactly does the CFO session entail?

The monthly 1:1 strategy session is a complementary fractional CFO business coaching service. During these sessions, we'll discuss the information in your financial statement, evaluate the numbers for any trouble areas, and set specific action steps for the month. You can choose between a live 1:1 Zoom call or async Loom support - and you can switch month to month so it fits your schedule seamlessly.

All the information you need to make confident, informed business decisions is in your numbers already. We just help to translate it for you.

Do you take care of my taxes?

Short answer: no, we don't file annual tax returns.

Complete answer:

If you are an independent contractor, we help you calculate your personal taxes and set up an automatic transfer so you have the money in a savings account when tax time comes. You will still need a tax preparer or CPA to prepare your return and file it with the IRS. (You can also do it yourself with Turbo Tax or similar software.)
If you are an employee of your business and receiving a salary; yes, we pay your taxes through the payroll system.
If you collect sales tax for products, we will remit the sales tax on your behalf to the appropriate agency.

Do I still need a cpa?

Yes, you still need a CPA or licensed tax preparer to file your taxes and finalize your annual report. Aboveboard Bookkeeping provides the boots-on-the-ground data entry, reporting, and financial analysis that accountants charge an arm and a leg for. Save thousands by only paying your CPA once a year.
